Legends: BRUCE JONES
Bruce Jones started shaping surfboards in the garage of his parent's house in 1959. While earning a degree in economics from Long Beach State, he continued surfing and shaping, landing on the Hobie team in the mid-'60s. Bruce continued to hone his shaping skills while working alongside some of the biggest names in the business, including Hobie Alter, Phil Edwards, Dale Velzy and Terry Martin. He shaped for brands that included Hobie, Gordie, Vardeman, Russell, Dick Brewer and Ole before launching Bruce Jones Surfboards in 1973.
Sadly, Bruce Jones died of a heart attack on January 13, 2014, at the age of 68. Bruce was always a very hands-on surfboard manufacturer, shaping all styles of boards including shortboards, progressive longboards, paddleboards, windsurfers, kiteboards and standups.
