Born in 1932 and raised in the San Diego area, Pat became a founding member of the well-known Windansea Surf Club at the age of 18. His first trip to Hawaii came in 1955, and he was among the small group of surfers to first challenge the surf at Waimea Bay in about 1957. Curren found that the surfboards they were riding were not suited for the conditions, so he returned to California to design and build big wave boards. Not only did he become an accomplished big wave surfer, but was soon known as a master shaper of big wave guns. Always quiet but with a great sense of humor, Pat Curren was never one for the spotlight. However, his contributions to surfing are as huge as the waves he rode back in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. A true pioneer of big wave surfing! Don't miss out on this limited edition tee! Printed on a 100% preshrunk cotton t-shirt.
